Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Senior Performance Platform Engineer to join our ever-evolving engineering team and help shape the future of performance testing across multiple business platforms. In this role, you’ll own and evolve the shared performance testing platform that enables our teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions to clients around the world.
What you’ll own
- Own the architecture, roadmap, and continuous evolution of the shared performance testing platform, supporting Genius Enterprise and multiple POS business branches.
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable performance testing components, including frameworks, simulations, tooling, reporting capabilities, and CI/CD integrations that drive consistency and efficiency across teams.
- Build and enhance performance test orchestration solutions using Gatling, Locust, Python, Scala, Groovy, Jenkins, Docker, and AWS technologies.
- Establish and promote engineering standards, best practices, and governance through technical leadership, framework reviews, mentorship, and collaboration with Automation Engineers.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex platform, environment, and performance-related issues through root cause analysis and data-driven decision-making.
- Partner with business branches and stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize platform enhancements, support onboarding initiatives, and ensure the platform meets evolving business needs.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with hands-on involvement in performance engineering, load testing, or test automation environments.
- Strong programming expertise in Python and the ability or willingness to work across additional technologies such as Scala and Groovy.
- Experience designing and testing distributed, cloud-hosted systems, including proficiency with REST APIs and modern service architectures.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and cloud-native infrastructure concepts.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, TeamCity, or similar platforms, including pipeline scripting and automation.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, engineering best practices, and continuous delivery processes.
- Excellent systems-thinking skills with the ability to design scalable, reusable solutions that support multiple teams and products.
- Strong communication, planning, estimation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently and influence technical direction.
It’s a bonus if you have
- Experience building, maintaining, or scaling shared internal platforms or frameworks used by multiple engineering teams.
- Expertise with observability and analytics tools such as Grafana, Kibana, or similar monitoring platforms for performance analysis and reporting.
- Experience within POS, retail, payments, or other enterprise-scale distributed system environments.
- Hands-on experience across various performance testing methodologies, including load, stress, spike, soak, and endurance testing.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership without formal people management responsibilities.
- Strong written communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
- A mindset that reflects our values:
- Think like a client: Understand business objectives and deliver solutions that enable exceptional customer experiences and system reliability.
- Act like an owner: Take accountability for platform quality, proactively solve problems, and continuously improve performance engineering practices.
- Win as one team: Collaborate across teams, business units, and geographies to create shared success and scalable outcomes.
