Ready to take your career global?
Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Solution Architect to join our ever-evolving Payouts team and help shape the future of global commerce.
What you’ll own
You will define target architectures, set engineering standards, and work closely with product, platform, and delivery teams to translate business goals into robust technical solutions. Ideal candidates combine strong systems thinking with hands-on knowledge of cloud-native patterns, eventing, APIs, and DevSecOps.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and Design
Define target and transitional architectures for microservices-based systems, including domain boundaries, service contracts, and data ownership.
Create and maintain architecture artifacts: context diagrams, sequence diagrams, service interaction models, API specifications, and deployment topologies.
Select and standardize architectural patterns (e.g., event-driven architecture, choreography vs. orchestration, CQRS, saga patterns, API gateway/BFF).
Ensure designs address non-functional requirements: scalability, reliability, performance, security, observability, and cost efficiency.
Technical Leadership
Provide hands-on guidance to engineering teams on service decomposition, API design, data modeling, and cloud-native implementation.
Establish and champion coding and design standards, reference implementations, and reusable templates.
Conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling, and design walkthroughs; manage technical risk and drive remediation plans.
Governance and Quality
Define guardrails for microservices (e.g., versioning, backward compatibility, resilience patterns, health checks, retries/circuit breakers, idempotency).
Partner with platform/DevOps teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and runtime policies align with architectural standards.
Drive observability-by-design: metrics, logs, traces, SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and incident postmortems.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work with product managers to align technical roadmaps with business outcomes and OKRs.
Communicate complex architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; facilitate trade-off discussions.
Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Data teams to meet regulatory and data governance requirements.
Roadmapping and Innovation
Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and managed services; perform proofs of concept and ROI assessments.
Contribute to the evolution of domain-driven design across the organization; mentor engineers and junior architects.
What you’ll bring
8+ years in software engineering/architecture with 4+ years designing and delivering microservices at scale.
Strong proficiency in:
Domain-Driven Design (DDD), bounded contexts, and service granularity.
API design (RESTful, gRPC) and event-driven patterns (Kafka, Pulsar, SNS/SQS, or similar).
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and core services (e.g., ECS/EKS/AKS/GKE, API Gateway, Lambda/Functions, IAM).
Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), service mesh (Istio/Linkerd) and ingress.
Data architectures for microservices: polyglot persistence, transactional boundaries, eventual consistency, and streaming.
Reliability and scalability patterns: circuit breakers, bulkheads, timeouts, backoff/retry, rate limiting, caching.
Observability tooling: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, Jaeger/Zipkin.
CI/CD and DevSecOps: GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), security scanning, secrets management.
Solid experience with at least one modern language and framework (e.g., Java/Spring Boot, .NET, Node.js, Go, or Python/FastAPI).
Demonstrated track record leading complex programs from architecture through production, including migration from monoliths to microservices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
It’s a bonus if you have
Experience in regulated or high-availability domains (e.g., payments, fintech, healthcare, e-commerce).
Familiarity with zero-downtime deployments, blue/green and canary strategies, feature flags, and progressive delivery.
Knowledge of API management platforms and developer portals.
Security expertise: OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, secrets rotation, tokenization, and threat modeling.
Performance engineering: capacity planning, load testing, and cost optimization.
Event streaming design at scale: exactly-once semantics, schema evolution (e.g., Avro/Protobuf with schema registry).
Experience with multi-region, active-active architectures and disaster recovery.
