What you’ll own
- Perform and oversee complex reconciliations of financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Investigate and resolve high-level discrepancies, escalating critical issues to management as necessary.
- Review and approve reconciliation reports prepared by junior and mid-level analysts.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and support to the reconciliation team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address reconciliation challenges and implement solutions.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance reconciliation efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop, document, and enforce best practices for reconciliation processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present reconciliation summaries and recommendations to senior management.
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level staff, fostering professional development within the team.
- Monitor aged items and work to resolve them promptly to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA Finance, M.Com, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CMA India, or other finance-related certifications are considered an added advantage.
- 8+ years of experience in account reconciliation, financial analysis, month-end close, balance sheet substantiation, or a similar finance operations role.
- Proven track record of handling complex reconciliations, aged item resolution, reviewing analyst deliverables, and leading process improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, balance sheet substantiation, internal controls, audit support, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience performing and reviewing Balance Sheet, Bank, Intercompany, and related account reconciliations.
- Good understanding of accounting standards such as GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and reconciliation tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis, and advanced formulas. Knowledge of Macros/VBA is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities, drive operational efficiencies, and support automation initiatives.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to various levels of management.
- Leadership experience with reviewing and guiding analyst work, mentoring team members, driving issue resolution, and supporting team development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships.
